The island welcomed an impressive 42% more visitors compared to the same period last year, with a total of 60,235 stayover guests. This surge solidifies Curaçao’s position as a highly sought-after destination in the Caribbean, following a strong start in January.
Market Share and Visitor Diversity
Curaçao continues to attract a diverse range of visitors, with Europe leading as the primary market, comprising 43% of total arrivals. North America follows closely behind, contributing 35%, while South America and neighboring Caribbean islands represent 17% and 4%, respectively. This global appeal underscores Curaçao’s reputation as a premier travel destination.
Top 5 Source Markets Performance
The Netherlands, Curaçao’s primary market, saw a notable 36% growth, with 21,784 tourists visiting in February. The United States recorded a remarkable 47% increase, with 15,756 stayover arrivals, while Canada experienced a 19% growth, welcoming 5,136 visitors. Brazil and Colombia also showed remarkable growth rates, with 199% and 59% increases, respectively.
Key Highlights February 2024
Resort stays remained popular, with 54% of visitors opting for resort accommodations. Demographically, the largest portion of visitors belonged to the 45–64 age group, comprising 36% of arrivals. On average, visitors stayed for 9.0 nights.
Cruise Arrivals
Cruise arrivals also saw a significant increase, with 48 cruise ship calls bringing in 125,210 passengers in February.
Year-to-Date Highlights 2024
The year began impressively, with a 34% growth in stayover arrivals compared to the same period last year, totaling 121,140 visitors in the first two months. The Curaçao Tourist Board anticipates continued growth through strategic partnerships and collaborative efforts with the public and private sectors.
