Curaçao’s Hotel Occupancy Is Once Again The Best In The Region

In November, hotels in Curaçao had a 77.8 percent occupancy rate. This represents a 38 percent increase over the same period last year (39.8 percent). And the occupancy rate increased by 3.4 percent in comparison to 2019. With this performance, Curaçao hotels once again topped vacation accommodations on other islands in the Caribbean region for the second month in a row. The Curaçao Hospitality & Tourism Association (CHATA), reported this in a recent press statement.

In terms of revenue per available room, CHATA has also observed a $97.06 increase over the previous year. The price has risen from $49.14 in 2020 to $146.20 this year. This represents a $55.86 increase over 2019 (pre-Covid-19). According to CHATA, this increase over 2019 has been structural since this past July.

CHATA has seen several new developments since the resumption of tourism in the second half of 2021. Tourists are staying on the island for longer periods of time and spending more money. And CASHA, the interest group for small-scale tourist accommodations, also had a strong showing in November. In November, the average occupancy rate for rooms was 83.1 percent. This represents a 17.7 percent increase over October.
