The Curaçao Investment and Export Promotion Agency (CINEX) has taken a major step in boosting regional economic cooperation by signing two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with Suriname’s Suriname Energy Chamber (SEC) and the Suriname Investment and Trade Agency (SITA). These agreements aim to enhance economic collaboration, attract foreign investment, and promote sustainable growth between the two nations.
The signing took place in Paramaribo during The International Business Conference 2025 from 4-6 February 2025. Known for fostering engagement and collaboration, IBC 2025 provides participants with an exceptional experience, featuring presentations, industry discussions, and personalized one-on-one business matching services. This distinctive approach facilitated connections between investors and stakeholders, laying the foundation for transformative partnerships that will drive Suriname’s growth and prosperity.
With CINEX CEO Miles M. Mercera representing Curaçao. He signed the MoUs alongside SEC President Orlando Olmberg and SITA CEO Amar Alakhramsing, with witnesses Pedro Vega Orozco (CINEX) and Raoul Chong (SITA).
“These partnerships are a testament to our commitment to strengthening regional ties and unlocking new opportunities for businesses in both Curaçao and Suriname,” said Mr. Mercera. “By aligning our efforts with SEC and SITA, we aim to attract investments, and innovation, and promote sustainable economic development.”
Mr. Alakhramsing stated that SITA is pleased to officially build ties with CINEX.“We believe that there are both investment and export opportunities to exploit between our two nations” he remarked.
