My name is Alessandra Irausquin and I am the creator of AMI Arts. I am 12 years old and I have always loved making art and making people happy with it. That is why I created AMI Arts, a business in which I make customized and pre-made cards, posters and invites by using hand-lettering and illustrations that are made to order. My entrepreneurial journey started practically from the moment I was born. At my first birthday party, all the other kids were playing and I sat at a small table with a marker in my hand. Of course, at such a young age, my art was not so well developed, but as the years went on, my art improved and family and friends started telling me that I should do something with my talent. And thus AMI Arts was born. I chose this name because the letters 'AMI' are my initials and in Papiamentu it also means 'me'. I really enjoy the process of making art and when I deliver the orders I immensely enjoy watching people's reactions. Naturally, I also have homework and sports after school. But when I am done with that part of the day, I really like to be creative. So I don't see making art as a chore, not in the slightest. I started AMI Arts in Curaçao because my business is pretty new and, for now, I think having it at this location is the most useful option. My parents also support me really well in my business here, if I need any advice, they always help me. They instruct me, for example, on what to change and how to keep up with the orders that are coming in. And I really enjoy seeing those orders, the public reaction has been astounding. When I first published my page on Facebook, some people immediately started accepting my invite to like AMI Arts on Facebook. But then I went swimming with my mom and when we came back I had about 100 followers already. It is amazing. Once my business is settled in Curaçao, I am thinking about extending AMI Art to other countries via the internet as I am doing currently, but other than that I don't really have any specific future plans for my business. But I certainly plan on continuing to do what I love, and if people love what I produce, then the picture is complete.
