Last month, the Government of Curaçao, through the Ministry of Economic Development (MEO), officially proclaimed October 15 as the National Day of Local Industry, a new annual observance celebrating the vital contribution of local producers to the island’s economy and sustainable development.
During an official ceremony, Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas and Minister of Economic Development Roderick Middelhof signed the decree that formally establishes the day. The event marked a moment of recognition for the entrepreneurs, manufacturers, and innovators who form the backbone of Curaçao’s economic resilience.
“Our local producers are the foundation of our economic strength,” said Minister Middelhof. “This special day honors their hard work, creativity, and dedication to the future of Curaçao.”
The National Day of Local Industry aims to highlight the essential role that local producers play in strengthening Curaçao’s economy, driving innovation, and creating employment. The initiative also seeks to raise awareness about the importance of supporting local businesses and to showcase the quality and diversity of products proudly made on the island.
With this declaration, the Government of Curaçao reaffirms its commitment to promoting sustainable growth and fostering pride in local industry, a cornerstone of the island’s economic future.
