Direct Flights Between Curaçao And Brazil Near Completion

Earlier this year, Curaçao Airport Partners (CAP) was among those that announced that Azul Linhas Aéreas, a Brazilian airline, will begin flying directly from Belo Horizonte to Curaçao starting this summer. The launch of the non-stop weekly service from this Brazilian city to Curaçao is a first for both the airline and the island. Curaçao will be Azul’s first Caribbean destination, and the airline will be the first to ever offer non-stop service from Brazil to Curaçao.

CC Aeroportos, the main shareholder of CAP, has already started a promotional campaign for flights to Curaçao in and around the largest airports in Brazil, and posters promoting the service are also shining brightly on the walls of metro and train stations in several Brazilian cities. Travelers from São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Goiânia, Brasília, and Victoria will be able to fly to Belo Horizonte in under 90 minutes and continue on to Curaçao from there.

For CAP, this is a major coup. As Jonny Andersen, CEO of CAP, explains, “This is what we have worked hard for: to develop our airport and ensure that it serves as a catalyst for the island’s economy.” The launch of this new service is seen as a major milestone in the island’s tourism and economic development.

Recently, Azul Airlines’ Airport Team visited the island to support the preliminary launch preparations, and they were welcomed warmly by CAP’s senior management. They hosted productive meetings with various key divisions, including Aviation Market Development, Commercial, and Operations, and concluded with a comprehensive airport tour.

The new flights will kick off on Saturday, June 24th.
