Curaçao Signs Agreement With The Dominican Republic’s National Port Authority

The Curaçao Port Authority (CPA) recently signed a partnership agreement with Apordom, the national port authority of the Dominican Republic. The ultimate objective of this agreement is to strengthen ties and exchange information to improve port management and processes in both nations. This is a significant step towards establishing both the Dominican Republic and Curaçao as world-class cruise destinations.

The signing of the agreement took place during the Sea Trade Cruise Fair in Miami and it was signed by Apordom’s executive director, Jean Luís Rodríguez, and Humberto de Castro, the director of CPA. It will be in effect for the next 3 years, during which time the CPA and Apordom will be working together to form workgroups that will exchange, among other activities, several educational visits between the two port authorities.

Among the other processes governed by the agreement are the free and unrestricted exchange of information about the cargo and cruise industries in each port and historical statistics about each institution, as well as general marketing research aimed at increasing cruise and cargo traffic in both island nations’ ports.

The CPA and Apordom have also committed to the possibility of evaluating other destinations in the Caribbean to create a joint itinerary package plan to be offered to cruise lines.
