Parasasa Hotel Curaçao has officially opened its doors as the island’s first modern, purpose-built training hotel, marking a significant step forward in advancing hospitality education on the island. Designed to provide students with hands-on experience in a professional setting, the hotel is now fully operational following an extensive renovation.
With 37 double rooms and 8 suites, Parasasa Hotel Curaçao offers students from Nilda Pinto SBO, Maris Stella SBO, and the University of Curaçao, Dr. Moises Da Costa Gomez (UoC), the opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge in a real-world environment. Under the supervision of qualified educators and industry professionals, students are trained in key areas of hotel operations, including front office management, housekeeping, and food and beverage services.
While this marks a new chapter in hospitality training, it is not the first time Curaçao has embraced the concept. The former Academy Hotel in Punda, which operated for several years before closing down, also served as a training ground for students in the sector. However, Parasasa Hotel Curaçao sets a new benchmark by offering state-of-the-art facilities, expanded capacity, and a formalized training program under the Curaçao Hospitality and Tourism Training Centre (CHTTC).
The CHTTC is a collaborative initiative between ROC Mondriaan in The Hague, the Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB), and the Curaçao Hospitality & Tourism Association (CHATA), aimed at bringing local education up to international standards and preparing graduates to meet the growing demands of the tourism sector.
The soft opening ceremony was attended by several dignitaries and stakeholders, including the Minister of Economic Development, Mr. Charles Cooper; ROC Mondriaan Executive Board Chairman, Mr. Hans Schutte; CTB Managing Director, Mr. Muryad de Bruin; and Sector Director for Education & Science at the Ministry of Education, Mr. Wladimir Kleinmoedig. Following the formal program, guests toured the newly refurbished facilities.
Parasasa Hotel Curaçao not only supports the development of local talent but also serves as a hub for regional and international exchange. Students from across the Caribbean and the Netherlands are welcome to join the internship program, further enriching the educational experience through cross-cultural collaboration.
By combining academic instruction with practical exposure, the hotel provides a solid foundation for future careers in hospitality. Graduates may choose to continue their studies or enter the workforce, directly contributing to the growth and quality of Curaçao’s tourism sector.
With its opening, Parasasa Hotel Curaçao stands as a symbol of progress, innovation, and long-term commitment to excellence in hospitality training.
