Curaçao is gearing up for a surge in tourism, with thousands of new hotel rooms and culinary hotspots set to be developed in the coming years. Muryad de Bruin, counterpart director of the Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB), announced that the island expects to add approximately 4,000 additional rooms by 2026, including hotels, apartments, and vacation homes, to meet the growing demand from visitors.
Several significant construction projects are already underway to accommodate the influx of tourists. Among the most notable are the Autograph Collection by Marriott in Pietermaai and TUI Blue in St. Martha, both set to add between 300 and 350 rooms each. These new developments cater to the increasing demand for more luxurious accommodations.
The island has also seen growth in apartment complexes, with new projects such as The Wharf and ONE being developed. Existing hotels like Dolphin Suites and Lions Dive are expanding their capacity as well.
This wave of development aligns with Curaçao’s growing appeal in key markets, particularly in North and South America. The island has experienced a steady increase in visitors from the United States, with major cities like New York, New Jersey, and Florida being primary sources of tourism. The introduction of new direct flights and enhanced marketing efforts have strengthened Curaçao’s position as an attractive destination for American travelers seeking both luxury and adventure.
Curaçao is also capturing the attention of South American tourists, particularly from countries like Colombia and Brazil. Its proximity, combined with an increasing number of flight connections, has made the island a top choice for vacationers from the region. The island’s vibrant culture, beautiful beaches, and world-class resorts appeal to a diverse range of travelers.
As Curaçao continues to attract tourists from North and South America, the planned expansions in accommodations and dining experiences will further enhance its appeal as a premier Caribbean destination.
